Blurb

Five hundred years after the Earth was evacuated, fifteen-year-old Peter Russell awakes inside the Dome--a sealed world created to provide refuge for those left behind.

While he's been in suspended animation, the world has changed around him. Everyone looks the same. Disabilities are nearly nonexistent. And the Dome is ruled by an insane scientist and the minions who worship him like a god.

When his little brother Jacob disappears, Peter must find allies to help him search--and avoid those who would prefer Jacob not exist at all.

Review

I really enjoyed reading this book. The character creation is wonderful; they are all fully fleshed out with distinct personalities. Some of them I grew to love, and a few of them I loved to hate. The premise is interesting and, in true science fiction form, it has a message. The setting is nothing short of spectacular and is the perfect backdrop to the plot. The plot moves at an unhurried pace with very little "dead space" in it. The last chapters of the book have a beautifully unexpected twist that was interesting and a bit suspenseful at times.

It's sometimes difficult to find a YA science fiction that is thoughtful, intelligent, and interesting. I think Reduced World is all of that and much more. It's definitely worth reading.
